Savings Bonds

In general, savings bonds are registered securities backed by the full faith and credit of the United States. Savings Bonds are a great addition to your savings portfolio.

Series EE bonds are purchased at a discount (1/2 face value). Interest accumulates and is paid as part of the bond’s redemption value when the bond is cashed. Bonds earn interest for 30 years (original maturity is 17 years).

Series I bonds are purchased at face value. Interest on this type of bond also accumulates and is paid at redemption. Bonds earn interest for 30 years (original maturity is 20 years).

Beginning January 1st, 2012 you will no longer be able to purchase bonds at Cheney FCU, but we will still be able to redeem them.

Notary Service

Members in need of having documents Notarized are welcome to come into our office between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. We have four notaries on staff at the Cheney location and one on staff at our Westbow Branch, any of which would be happy to help you. Here are just a couple of reminders:

  • Please do not sign the document ahead of time.
  • Please have your identification handy.
  • Please be sure that each person that needs to sign is present.

There is no charge to members for Notary Service

Money Orders

Money orders for any amount up to $1,000 are available at the credit union. The fee of just $1.00 per item is a small price to pay for the convenience and security that purchasing a money order provides. When you don’t want to send a personal check, and need more of a record than what cash provides, purchasing a money order could be the solution. (Sorry we do not sell money orders to non-members.)
